Why this means so much to me.
I'm Daire, originally from Ireland, but Lithuania has become my second home. What started as a move for a new chapter in life quickly became a place I genuinely love—the people, the culture, the landscapes, and the sense of community.
One thing that has had a huge impact on me is seeing the incredible work volunteers do to rescue abandoned, neglected and forgotten dogs. The compassion and dedication of organisations like DogSpotas inspired me to give something back to a country that has given me so much.
At home, my world revolves around three dogs—Oso, Jefe and Vato. They aren't just pets; they're family. They remind me every day of the unconditional love and loyalty a dog can give, and I believe every dog deserves the chance to experience a life filled with that same love.
That's why I'll be cycling over 900 kilometres across Lithuania. Not because I think it will be easy, but because every kilometre is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for dogs still waiting for their second chance.
